Silver Care Guide & Heirloom Collection
Our Heirloom & Vintage Silver Collection
At Artificcers, we believe jewellery should outlive its wearer — passed down, cherished, and worn again. Our heirloom and vintage silver pieces are crafted in 925 sterling silver, selected for their timeless design and exceptional craftsmanship.
What Makes a Piece Heirloom-Worthy?
- 925 Sterling Silver: Every piece is hallmarked 925, ensuring 92.5% pure silver — the gold standard for fine silver jewellery.
- Natural Stones: We source genuine natural stones — no synthetics — chosen for their colour, clarity, and energetic properties.
- Freshwater Pearls: Our pearl pieces feature lustrous freshwater pearls, each unique in shape and sheen.
- Artisan Craftsmanship: Each piece is handcrafted with traditional techniques, ensuring no two are exactly alike.
The Vintage Aesthetic
Our vintage-inspired designs draw from heritage motifs — filigree work, oxidised finishes, and nature-inspired forms — that carry the soul of another era while remaining entirely wearable today.
Caring for Heirloom Pieces Specifically
Heirloom and vintage silver often carries a deliberate patina — the dark oxidised finish in recessed areas that gives depth and character. When cleaning these pieces, avoid aggressive polishing that removes this patina. A gentle wipe with a soft cloth is all that's needed to maintain their beauty.
How to Care for Your Silver Jewellery
Silver is a living metal — it breathes, ages, and tells a story. With the right care, your Artificcers pieces will remain radiant for generations.
Cleaning
- Gentle polish: Use a soft, lint-free silver polishing cloth to buff away light tarnish. Avoid paper towels or rough fabrics that can scratch the surface.
- Mild soap wash: For a deeper clean, use a few drops of mild dish soap in warm water. Gently scrub with a soft-bristle toothbrush, rinse thoroughly, and pat dry immediately.
- Natural stones & pearls: Never submerge pieces set with natural stones or freshwater pearls. Wipe the metal gently with a damp cloth and dry at once.
- Avoid ultrasonic cleaners for pieces with stones, as vibrations can loosen settings.
Preventing Tarnish
- Put your jewellery on last — after perfume, lotions, and hairspray.
- Remove silver before swimming, bathing, or exercising. Chlorine and sweat accelerate tarnish.
- Store pieces in an airtight zip-lock bag or a lined jewellery box to limit exposure to air and humidity.
- Add an anti-tarnish strip inside your storage box for extra protection.
Storage
- Store each piece separately to prevent scratching.
- Keep silver away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
- For long-term storage, wrap pieces in acid-free tissue paper before placing in an airtight container.
Professional Care
For heavily tarnished or intricate pieces, we recommend professional polishing by a trusted jeweller. Avoid harsh chemical dips, which can strip patina from vintage and heirloom pieces and damage natural stones.
